This afternoon has finished the last day of the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona, which has been contested since the last Thursday at the waters of Barcelona. Sailing yachts and sailors from 9 countries have raced for one of the most prestigious trophies of the Mediterranean.
Emotion and tension until the last moment
After the initial hesitation, Aeolus didn’t want to miss his annual date with the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona. On the start of the Big Boats there was a wind of 7-8 knots, going down to 5 knots at the Classics start and recovering for the Vintage Class start, after rolling a bit to the left finding a good direction.
Therefore, from the 185º reached the 10 knots, reviving the third and last race, which has elapsed a 15 miles course on 6 stretches.
The Moonbeam III has been able to defend the leadership on the Big Boats Category after winning the race of today. An tight triumph, so the Moonbeam IV has finished at just one minute of the winner and the Mariette of 1915 at just two minutes, ending a little bit more delayed after the time compensation. Adding the three races on this 6th edition of the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona, the Moonbeam III (5 points) has been proclaimed the winner over its big brother the Moonbeam IV (7points), who was able to steal a second step to the Mariquita (8 points) o today’s race.
The Yanira too was able to win the Alba at the end of the Classics Race, the largest and the most disputed category of the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona. Sailing both really well, but at the large distant meant by two different ratings as this ones. The Yanira has been able to take advantage of her qualities on the penultimate stretch, a large tight one, where the Alba had less defence. Separated during 24 minutes on the ending line on the race, after the times compensation the Alba still needed 50 seconds to overcome the Yanira on the last race of the regattas course of Barcelona. The Outlaw ended third, a really good job as it allowed her to overcome the Emeraude and the Glen Mael, who started the race better classified than the her.
The Avel didn’t give any change to her opponents of the gaff Rigged Class, achieving an absolute punctuation at the Puig Vela Clàssica with her 3 main victories. But, for further emotion on this category, the Marigan and the Marigold give all, with the complicity of the Malabar X, who finishing third raced always in the middle of the two rivals. Even though, the best partials of the Marigan granted her a second position, after the replay at 8 points with the Marigold, while the Malabar X, today third, finished her best partial achieving a fourth final position.
Peter’s tranquillity of 3 points over the Manitou and the Mercury allowed her to face the last Marconi Class race with certain tranquillity. A race with a main character: the Horizonte, who incorporated today Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona after the delay of her transportation until the city, due to the strong winds in Gibraltar. The Peter ended second and the Manitou third, surpassing the Mercury, today 6th at the final classification.
Spectacular closing party at the rhythm of The Tall Tutsies

It highlights for its animated and funny alive, full of performance and surprises.
